Kids Play – An Ongoing Collaboration
The Minneapolis Pops Orchestra is proud to welcome student musicians back to join them for yet another Kids Play concert! The 2018 Kids Play concert will be held on July 14th at the Lake Harriet Bandshell with weeknight rehearsals in the evenings of July 9-12.
Our Kids Play concerts are an annual favorite with Pops Orchestra audiences. They are often the best attended concerts of the season, so come early to get a great seat! Here’s the link to this year’s program: Kids Play
The Minneapolis Pops Orchestra first hosted its annual Kids Play concert in 1999, and the concerts have been growing in quality and popularity ever since. Since its inception, over 500 students have performed on stage with the Orchestra through the Kids Play program. Each year, Kids Play offers area high school students the opportunity to play fun and exciting music with the Minneapolis Pops Orchestra. Past selections include: March from Raiders of the Lost Ark by John Williams, movements from the Symphony No. 8, and Symphony No. 9, by Antonin Dvorak, and much more! In 2014 the Orchestra welcomed Isaac Johnson, winner of the Marine Band’s 2014 Concerto Competition, as the trombone soloist on Arthur Pryor’s piece, The Blue Bells of Scotland.
